You can use any paints or colouring pens or crayons...I used Acrylic paints.

Ideally you should laminate (seal in a clear plastic cover) your finished bookmark...I have one...made and laminated by my daughter 26 years ago and I still use it every day!

Many stationery shops offer laminating (eg Staples) or maybe Dad has a laminating machine at work!

If you can't laminate, make sure you use a fairly stiff board to give the bookmark body and strength.

TIPS

Paint or colour in your bookmark before cutting it out...much easier this way!

Use Graphite tracing (or transfer) paper for easy tracing.

Trace the design onto your board.

I sponged (use a piece of sponge from a kitchen scourer) this bookmark with two colours...yellow and orange, fading it off towards the top.

Paint the flower and let it dry, then trace on the wording.

Go over the outline of the flower and wording with a black pen.

On the daisy bookmark, I sponged around the edge, using a ruler to protect the white in the middle and to give me a straight line.

Otherwise same process as the first one.

I loosely mixed hot pink and white Acrylic paint.

This I brushed across the bookmark, giving a variegated look.

After painting the flower and the heart, I outlined them, using black paint on a liner brush (or you can use a black pen)

The wording was done with a black pen.

Bookmarks can be made for any occasion...just leave off the wording or write on your own message.

There are endless variations of colours and methods...do let us share what you do with you bookmarks...
